Potato Salad Hill Cleanup Fundraiser - We've exceeded our Goal!

March 14, 2008

PSH CleanupYou all made it happen! We exceeded our goal this year to help supply bathrooms, dumpsters and recycling at the Potato Salad Hill for EJS this year! Huge thanks to everybody who had donated money (and upcoming time) to this big event. Big thank you to U4WDA for their generous donation and to the numerous donators from Pirate4x4.com and especially to those of you here on RME! We couldn't have done it without all of you!

We will be proportioning the money properly to pay for the facilities which not only helps keep PSH clean, but it allows the BLM to direct money that they might have spent back on PSH back to our public lands to help improve and maintain other areas. This really is a big deal that benefits everybody.

We currenly have $162.01 that will be donated to the RR4W Mud Fund as well! I know a few of us are going to pool some more money to throw toward them and help out, this is really exciting to be able to help out in anyway. Thank you again to everybody involved!

That's some Pickle!

March 16, 2008

The terrific trio for this year's adventure is the extended Herzog Family and the Bronco Family.

Sunday morning dawned cloudy and dreary so hoping to avoid the imminent rain our clan headed north of town towards the Pickle.

We enjoyed playing on that trail and after rallying through Hidden Canyon's sand, we made it back to the trucks and trailers right before the rain came.

RME Pritchett Night Run

March 18, 2008

We had an excellent group of 11 vehicles starting out. We lost two near the beginning which we were assuming was some linkage problems, then four more at the hill climb after the black JK threw it's driveline.

Determined to reach the top, the rest of us trucked on. Once we arrived at Rocker Knocker, Yellowbronco & BroncoMama experienced some minor electrical problems and Jpest discovered a fuel delivery problem while on RK. Jpest decided to turn back and we were down to four. After RK, we made good time up the rest of the trail.

Axle hill allowed us to pass onto Rock Pile. Three of us drove rockpile on the first shot, which is pretty amazing since it has gotten even deeper this year. More of the rock base has cracked and given away!

Yellow Hill let us slide on by and before we knew it we reached the top around 10:30 - 11:00 PM. The semi-full moon lit up the canyon and gave us all quite a view to remember.

PSH Cleanup - Big Weekend Coming Up!

March 20, 2008

We all have to hand it to Blacksheep (JD) for stepping up and showing up every morning this week since Monday to help Sara cleanup PSH. I showed up 7:00 AM this morning to help out because I knew that things are going to get progressively worse as the week goes. Blacksheep and his nephew were there only moments later and got to work.

I have to encourage all of you to just try and come out for under an hour and help out. It's good exercise and the area really needs your help, especially now that more people are coming into town. If you do go out to Potato Salad Hill to watch the action, please use the garbage cans and recycle bins. Huge thank you to those of you showing up at night and doing a good sweep of the area, it really has helped out a ton! Please be sure to mention who you are so Sara can get you on the "Thank You" Advertisement!

Trail Ride; Coyote Canyon on Big Saturday

March 22, 2008

On Big Saturday we meet up with Matt and Ben from Ben Hanks Racing. They were just starting up Coyote Canyon in Matts well-built YJ on 42's. Matt had no problems conquering the trail with a combination of driver skill and a very capable 4x4.

Product testing with Portal-Tek & AEV

March 22, 2008

The guys from Portal-Tek were out testing a buggy with their portal axles at the sand dunes South of Moab. The crew from AEV was also there, checking out the custom portal axles and shooting some photos of their 6.1L Hemi conversion JK Wrangler. AEV also had a Brute TJ conversion pickup playing in the sand.
