Just returned from a great week of fishing (and continuing education seminars) in Alaska. We worked out of the Lands End Lodge, and fished the Sumner Strait in 18' boats.

This is on the Northwest tip of Prince of Wales Island, 120 or so miles south of Juneau.

Over the week, landed 5 halibut, 14 pink salmon (average 5-7 pounds), 7 silver salmon (7-10 pounds) plus quill back rock fish, pacific cod, polluck, and hake.

Enjoyed frequent company of humpback whales, eagles, sea otters, seals and sea lions. Had occasional visits from porposes and had a pod of orca come though one morning.

Great week, made all the better by bringing home about 70 pounds of fish fillets.

Pics are all the old fashioned way...will need to get them back from being developed before I can post.

Fishing trips to Alaska are hard to beat, and fun in that they can be so different depending on where you go. Point Baker is ocean fishing in the temporate rain forest, Nome is rivers on the tundra. So much to choose from!
